Adam Craig:

A happy ending

Tiffany's the jewel in WrestleMania's weird crown

The rare luxury of six hours sleep seemed a distant memory when a cursory glance out of the window revealed a Houston skyline illuminated by lightning.

The sky was grey and with WrestleMania 'Fan Axxess' several hours away there was only one solution. The Houston Galleria was calling.

Houston Yellow Taxi drivers are an interesting bunch: never let the fact you haven't heard of the destination and have no intention of either admitting it or asking for help stop you from accepting the fare. A short walk through a field and a wet pair of shoes later I was back at the famous tee-shirt stall.

Today's winner? 'People like you are the reason people like me need medication.' Indeed.

Our hotel backs onto the George R Brown Convention Centre. It boasts 1.2m square feet and like everything in Texas it's enormous. I overheard some women in the lift faintly whispering they were heading over to the Convention Centre for the penultimate day of their trip.

Librarians

I have a great relationship with this particular lift. It's simple: if I'm in a hurry it stops at every floor. I didn't mind so much today as it allowed me to find out that 3,000 librarians are currently in Houston for a four-day convention.

Myself and Ben (cameraman, sounding board and all-round legend) were now deep in thought. What on earth can 3,000 librarians have to discuss and how could it possibly fill four days? Are you even allowed to talk at a librarians' convention? Answers on a postcard.

The credit crunch was clearly taking its toll. Our 10-seater stretch limo now a thing of the past, we made our way to Reliant Park in a slightly scaled down version for the start of Fan Axxess.

Would you believe me if I told you that at regular intervals over the next three days, 3,000 people at a time (as many of them grown men as children) will line up for hours wearing masks, face paint and tee-shirts of other grown men in lycra to get into Fan Axxess?

If it's good enough for the librarians...

Disillusionment

The WWE certainly know how to put on a show. The fans flocked in from far and wide, including the two Newcastle supporters from Monday's blog - their disillusionment replaced by a firm belief that 'Sheeeear-er' will keep them up.

They found a WWE fan over from Sweden and convinced him to join them at Axxess. He explained that the journey from Stockholm to Houston took 23 hours. Did he walk?

The vast space was filled by all things WWE. From a WrestleMania Memorabilia stand, to the chance of a seat at the ringside announcing table next to Jim Ross (WWE's answer to Martin Tyler) to commentate on a match. Fans could even walk down the ramp and make their very own ring entrance accompanied by the music of their favourite WWE superstar.

Rey Mysterio entered the ring, placed in the middle of the exhibits, to wild applause and entertained the fans with a Q&A session. I'm sure he'll forgive me for not hanging on his every word. More pressing matters to attend to you see.

There I stood with the WWE Championship belt draped over one shoulder and WWE diva Tiffany draped over the other.

Life is good...
