So good to talk

Footballers' Football Show opens with plenty of in-depth discussion

Talking points were not in short supply for the first instalment of The Footballers' Football Show.

In fact, the 90 minutes was barely enough to get through issues such as football's Olympic legacy and whether the dark days of racism were returning to our game.

PFA chairman Clarke Carlisle spoke with great bravery on the latter topic, citing a recent case of a coach at a Premier League club being the victim of casual racism, which he felt unable to report.

Our other guests, Niall Quinn and the Brentford manager Uwe Rosler, were clearly shocked by Clarke's tale but all agreed football should have a zero tolerance approach to prejudice of any kind.

The Pompey boss will join us to explain how he's managed to build an entirely new team from scratch to kick off in League One - and remember this is his first job!

Two more experienced sages of football management will share their stories too - Mick McCarthy and Peter Reid.

I suspect once again I'll be struggling to get a word in...
