Virtus Pro emerged victorious at the first ESL One Major to be held in the UK, defeating OpTic Gaming in front of a packed Arena Birmingham crowd.
VP of Russia secured a 3-0 win over North Americans OpTic in the Grand Finals, and did so convincingly. They even managed to end Game 1 without a single death on any of their three core players.
The Birmingham Major, which boasted a US $1m prize pool, is the third ESL One title for Virtus Pro since the beginning of the Dota Pro Circuit last September, and their fourth Major overall.
Having already qualified for Valve's The International 8 this summer several months ago, Virtus Pro continues to dominate the professional Dota 2 scene, and are now undoubtedly the strongest team in the world.
This was the first Major on British soil but local fans in attendance made it one to remember, with Mexican waves, balloons and chants.
ESL's decision to host a Major in the UK certainly appears to have paid off, and based on the success of the event in Birmingham, it is already expected that another on a similar scale will be held in the future.
