Ed Walker is in two minds about whether to step Stormy Antarctic up in trip or keep him to a mile following his no-show in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday.

Having ran out an impressive winner of the Craven Stakes over course and distance on his previous start, the son of Stormy Atlantic failed to land any kind of blow in the colts' Classic.

The Newmarket handler is now considering a tilt at either the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh or the mile-and-a-quarter French Derby at Chantilly.

Walker said: "It was a weird race and nothing got into it off the pace.

"We were with Marcel and Air Force Blue out the back and we stayed out the back.

"It was not our day and it was definitely not the ground. I was disappointed as he was never in the race.

"Not for one moment did I get excited and that was not the fault of George (Baker, jockey).

"It's early days and we need to lick our wounds. I will watch the video again and whether we now go for the French Derby or the Irish 2,000 Guineas, I'm not sure.

"We always felt that he would get 10 furlongs. It's whether that is something we look at or try get him back on track and get a good run back into him over a mile.

"The Irish 2,000 Guineas could suit him, all being well."
