Wakanda could take in the BetBright Chase at Kempton later this month before heading to Aintree in the spring.

Trainer Sue Smith felt the heavy ground at Cheltenham proved his downfall in the Cotswold Chase after he was pulled up two fences from home.

The seven-year-old, who had previously rattled off three big wins on the spin, will not head to the Cheltenham Festival, but a trip to Aintree a few weeks later has been earmarked as a "definite possibility".

Before that, though, the Grade Three BetBright Chase on February 27 could come into play, as long as conditions are suitable.

Smith said: "He's grand and was really well after Cheltenham, where he didn't handle the ground.

"He has that entry at Kempton but we won't be running him if the ground is bad again.

"That (Aintree) is a definite possibility as he's run well there before and has that important course experience."
