Bishops Road will attempt to win Haydock's Grand National Trial for a second successive year.

Having relished the stamina test last season Kerry Lee is hoping the extra distance will once more be in his favour on February 18.

Bishops Road finished third in a high-class renewal of the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock on Saturday.

"I was delighted with his run," said Lee. "I felt it was a huge achievement as Bristol De Mai is clearly a Gold Cup horse. To finish third in a race like that was a big effort.

"He'll go back to Haydock for the Grand National Trial now. Another half a mile will be right up his street.

"He would have preferred softer ground on Saturday, but we can't use that as an excuse as it was the same for them all."
