Hugo Palmer is considering stepping Escobar back up in class at Royal Ascot for a tilt at the Jersey Stakes.

After swerving both the English and French 2000 Guineas, the son of Famous Name had to settle for second in the Listed Heron Stakes on his seasonal bow.

Although a final decision has yet to be made, the Newmarket handler is leaning towards making the Group Three prize on June 21 his next target.

Palmer said: "We are going to think about the Jersey with him as he has got that seven-furlong speed.

"It looked like he came there to win his race at Sandown and I know the winner had the run of the race, but it was possible that he just outstayed us over that stiff mile.

"Seven furlongs at Ascot should suit him and the owners are from Jersey, so it would be lovely to win the Jersey for them."

Condon eyes Coventry for Romanised

The Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot is the likely next port of call for Ken Condon's exciting colt Romanised.

The son of Holy Roman Emperor made a successful debut at Navan last month and the form was given a significant boost when the third, Declarationofpeace, bolted up on his next start at Dundalk.

Romanised held an entry for the Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh, but sidestepped that engagement and is now bound for the showpiece fixture in Berkshire.

Condon said: "He just had a little setback after Navan and the race on Saturday was coming up a bit quick for him.

"He's done very well since Navan physically and the plan now is to go straight to Royal Ascot. He'll get entries in both the Coventry Stakes and the Norfolk, but it will more than likely be the Coventry.

"I think the maiden he won will work out to be very good. There was a lot of chat beforehand and the third has won well since.

"We think a fair bit of our horse. Ever since he started doing fast work, he's always shown a nice bit of ability.

"He's a talented colt and one to look forward to."
