Born To Play will go under the hammer at the Goffs London Sale on Monday evening ahead of an intended appearance at Royal Ascot later in the week.

Although still a maiden after three starts, the son of Born To Sea showed his quality when narrowly beaten by Homesman in the Group Three Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh last month.

He is set to contest either the Hampton Court Stakes or the King George V Stakes on the Thursday of Royal Ascot, but could be sold in the meantime after he was added to the Goffs London Sale at the Orangery at Kensington Palace.

Owner-trainer Joe Murphy said: "He's entered in the mile-and-a-half handicap (King George) and the mile-and-a-quarter Group Three (Hampton Court) and either one will do.

"We'll see what both races are looking like nearer the time and then make a decision.

"He'll go to the sale on Monday and we'll see what happens. It would be great if someone buys him and keeps him in the yard, that would be ideal.

"He's a very good horse as so long as we get good ground we'll all be happy."
