Fast five ideal for Sapphire Stakes winner

The Nunthorpe Stakes at York is on the agenda for Invincible Ash after she secured a first Group-race victory at the Curragh on Sunday. The six-year-old ran a number of solid races at the Dubai Carnival earlier in the year and wasn't winning out of turn when coming home strongly from off the pace in the Sapphire Stakes. She is entered in Newmarket's July Cup on Saturday week but trainer Mick Halford would prefer to find her an easier option before heading to the Knavesmire in August. "We were delighted with her and it's fantastic for her to win a Group Three as I think she deserved it," said Halford. "She has some good form in the book and with the sprinters if they keep running up to their best level eventually they get their turn. "She's in the July Cup, and there is a small chance she could run in that, but I'll have a look at the race nearer the time - I think that could be quite a difficult race. "She might be better running in a Listed race at Naas and then we could aim her at the Nunthorpe at York. I think that would be a race that would suit her. "I think she gets six furlongs all right, but I just think she is at her best when they go really fast over five and she can come through late."
