HQ hero comes out of race well

David Simcock reports Dream Ahead to be in fine shape after his tremendous victory in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on Saturday. The six-furlong Group One was the colt's third success at the highest level following his wins in the Prix Morny at Deauville and the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket last year which had earned him the position of joint-champion two-year-old with Frankel. Simcock confirmed that a return trip to Deauville for the Prix Maurice de Gheest on August 7 was on the cards. "Dream Ahead has come out of the race absolutely fine. He grubbed up on Saturday night and trotted up with no problems this morning," the Trillium Place handler told www.davidsimcock.co.uk. "We went through a lot of emotions yesterday, the main one being relief. I was just very proud of the horse. "I've been quite protective of him, especially when people have questioned his rating and everything. "But this win has only enhanced his reputation and I would like to think there is more to come. "The Prix Maurice de Gheest is very much in our thinking for him next." The trainer was full of praise for his staff and also to jockey Hayley Turner, who was gaining her first win in a Group One. "I would just like to say thanks to all of the team at Trillium Place and also lots of congratulations go out to Hayley Turner. She couldn't have done a better job," he added.
