Native Khan could make up into an even better four year old

Ed Dunlop's impressive Craven Stakes winner Native Khan will not run again this season. The three year old finished a creditable third behind Frankel in the 2000 Guineas before placing fifth in the Derby at Epsom but he failed to reproduce that form when well beaten in the Irish Derby and Dunlop believes the grey will benefit from having the rest of the year off. "Native Khan ran well to be beaten only two lengths in the English Derby, but clearly Epsom took more out of him than we originally thought as he did not reproduce that form at the Curragh," the Newmarket trainer told his website, www.edunlop.com "I have spoken to the owners, and we have decided that there is not much left for him in the second half of the season, apart from taking on the very best, so we have drawn stumps for the year and will bring him back next season. "We always thought that he would make an even better four-year-old anyway, so, hopefully, there is still plenty to look forward to next summer."
