Marco Botti is eyeing up Group One races for his new recruit

Joshua Tree could go for the Grosser Preis von Baden in Germany after a promising start to his career for his new connections. Trainer Marco Botti is planning to step last season's Canadian International winner back into Group One company after he finished second to French Navy under a welter weight at Newmarket earlier this month. That was the four-year-old's first outing since April where he had been based in Dubai after leaving Aidan O'Brien's stable in Ireland.

Pleasing Start

"I was very pleased with him at Newmarket considering he carried a lot of weight. I know it was only a conditions race, but it was more like a Group race because of the quality of the horses in it," said Botti. "We might go to Baden-Baden for a Group One on September 4, but we'll discuss it with the owner at the weekend after he has worked. "Obviously he's a nice horse to have in the yard after Gitano Hernando left us earlier in the year. This horse is a replacement. "He has won a Grade One in Canada, so he's definitely up to that level."
