Every avenue open to 'special' Gold

The connections of consistent miler Dubawi Gold are hoping that they might receive an invitation to run in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin on December 11 could be a possible target for the Richard Hannon-trained colt but the race is by invitation only. Dubawi Gold has performed creditably at the highest level all season and, though his latest effort could be considered slightly disappointing, he remains one of the top milers in Europe. He was beaten three lengths into fourth place behind his old adversary Excelebration in the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp to add to his second places in the English and Irish 2000 Guineas and his win in Goodwood's Celebration Mile.

Aggressive Campaign

"He ran a little bit flat. He was off the bridle earlier than is normal for him," said Tim Jones, racing manager to owner Andrew Tinkler. "That could have been a combination of the very soft ground and possibly it came a week sooner after his last race than was ideal. "He's come out of it well. He's tough and bounces back pretty quickly. It doesn't seem to have done him any harm. "He ran his usual genuine consistent race and at the end of the day he wasn't beaten very far. "He has been ambitiously and aggressively campaigned from the beginning of the year. He had a nice break after Royal Ascot, but apart from that he's been on the go ever since. "He's tackled every hard task and done it head on. He's very special. "It's a little bit early to be finalising plans at the moment. Every avenue is open to him. "He's got entries in all the races open to him that have already closed and if the Hong Kong Invitational guys came on to us, that would be something else that would go into the mix."
