Dick Turpin produced a tenacious effort to land the Group 1 Premio Vittorio Di Cupia at San Siro. Richard Hannon's colt went to post a short priced favourite for the mile contest under Christophe Soumillon, and having tracked the leaders in mid-division - his supporters appeared to have plenty of room for confidence. With three furlongs to go, the Roger Charlton trained Cityscape joined the pacesetting Shamalgan and was committed for home under an enterprising Steve Drowne. Having mastered that rival, the five-year-old was sternly challenged by German contender, Vanjura. Seemingly outpaced, Dick Turpin looked in trouble but he picked up willingly for the application of the whip and was produced exquisitely on the post for victory. Marco Botti's Fanunalter ran on to be an honourable fourth.
