Classic Colori seems least likely runner

David O'Meara is considering running plans for the 53rd John Smith's Cup at York on July 14 with Smarty Socks, War Poet and Classic Colori in the frame. Recent seven-furlong course winner Smarty Socks would be an interesting contender should he line up as he has yet to win beyond a mile and was unplaced in this race last summer. "It's an option for him. Obviously he's more effective at seven furlongs, but we will look at it," said O'Meara. "We've nothing planned for him at present. He did have a setback but it was only minor and he's OK now." War Poet would be a possible if O'Meara felt the going was soft enough. "Ideally he would like cut in the ground. If that is the case, he could go there," he said. Classic Colori is likely to go to Sandown a week before the York feature. "He's going to Sandown next for a mile handicap on July 7. After that we'll see," said the trainer.
