Roger Charlton is mulling over the options for Sea Of Heartbreak following her highly encouraging performance in Saturday's Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.
The five-year-old was an outsider for what looked to be an extremely hot renewal of the Group One test but flew home in the straight to finish fourth.
She has a number of Pattern-race options for the remainder of the season and Charlton intends to pick and choose the best opportunities.
"I think it was probably a career-best performance and it gives us confidence to continue in our search to get placed in a Group One or win another Group Two or whatever," said Charlton.
"There are no specific plans for her really. She wants a mile and a quarter and fast ground, so we'll see. We may end up going abroad at some stage.
"It looked a very good race yesterday and we were very pleased with how our mare ran."
Love Options
Another Charlton inmate who performed admirably in defeat at Goodwood was the veteran Mac Love.
The 11-year-old was beaten just a length and a half into third in Tuesday's Lennox Stakes and his trainer was proud of his efforts.
"What a blinder he ran. It was a phenomenal race really," said Charlton.
"When you think he was running to the same level back in 2004, it's quite extraordinary.
"I've never won a race with him yet and it would be nice to do so.
"We'll keep trying at places like Salisbury, Goodwood and Epsom. Those sort of tracks suit him.
"There is the Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury and the Celebration Mile at Goodwood. Those races are options for him if the ground is fast."
