Options open for smart pair

Hughie Morrison's high-class duo Coquet and Shirocco Star both remain in contention for the Darley Yorkshire Oaks. Coquet hasn't been seen since her sixth in the Investec Oaks where she would almost certainly have finished much closer but for meeting serious traffic problems in the straight. Shirocco Star has been a little busier since filling the runner-up spot in the Epsom Classic, finishing third to Princess Highway in the Ribblesdale before finding only the exciting Great Heavens too strong in the Irish Oaks. The latter would appear to be the most likely York runner but both have alternative options. "I need to speak to the owners of both fillies, but I think it's likely both will be left in at the confirmation stage," said Morrison. "Coquet was unlucky in the Oaks and may not run at York. We might go for a spin round Windsor in a 10-furlong Group Three on Saturday week (Winter Hill Stakes) before looking at something bigger and better. "I would say Shirocco Star is a likely runner in the Yorkshire Oaks, but we'll see nearer the time. "It's going to be interesting to see what turns up and we might also give her the option of running in the Galtres Stakes at York instead. "She ran a fantastic race in Ireland last time on ground that wasn't ideal."
