Connections of Eagle Top are set to make a late call as to the York target for their smart three-year-old.
The John Gosden-trained colt, winner of the King Edward VII Stakes and fourth in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes, holds entries in two races on the opening day of the Ebor Festival on Wednesday.
Eagle Top is in the day's feature race, the Group One Juddmonte International Stakes over a mile and a quarter, and the Group Two Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur Stakes, a major trial for the Ladbrokes St Leger, over a mile and a half.
"We're just going to look at York for him. That's all I can say at the moment," said owner Lady Bamford's racing manager Hugo Lascelles.
"We probably won't make our mind up until Monday. He appears to be in good form.
"Nothing is really decided yet. We were proud of his run in the King George. We think hew's come out of it well so we are just going to see.
"He's going to work in the next couple of days and see where we go."
One horse on target for the Great Voltigeur is Observational, who did not handle the undulations at Goodwood when sixth in the Gordon Stakes, according to his trainer Roger Charlton.
"Observational is an intended runner in the Great Voltigeur at York on Wednesday," the Beckhampton trainer told his official website, www.rogercharlton.com.
"Although he faltered coming down the hill at Goodwood recently he appears to have made a complete recovery."
Richard Fahey, David O'Meara, Niall Hannity and Mark Howard are on the panel for a special York Ebor Meeting preview night, to be held at the racecourse on Tuesday August 19.
