Recent Salisbury winner Captain Cat and the interesting Aidan O'Brien pair Darwin and Cougar Mountain are among the 16 confirmations for Saturday's Doom Bar Celebration Mile at Goodwood.
Should Roger Charlton's Captain Cat follow up in this Group Two from his victory in the Sovereign Stakes at the Wiltshire course last Thursday, he would be repeating the effort of Afsare 12 months ago.
Darwin paid a recent visit to Goodwood when finishing a close and very respectable third to Kingman in the Sussex Stakes, while Cougar Mountain would be stepping up in trip as he ran a blinder on only his second start to take fifth in the July Cup.
Another in the possible line-up is Farraaj, who has rediscovered the winning formula for Roger Varian at Epsom and in the John Smith's Cup.
Rod Millman is set to run stable star Master Carpenter and hopes to have the services of Richard Hughes.
The three-year-old Mastercraftsman colt has enjoyed an excellent campaign, with a Listed-race romp at Sandown and a Group Three victory in France backed up by some excellent placed efforts.
He was last seen finishing third behind John Gosden's Western Hymn in the Prix Eugene Adam at Maisons-Laffitte and Millman is looking forward to seeing his charge come back in trip on the Sussex Downs, with the champion jockey expected to be in the plate.
Millman said: "We are hoping to run Master Carpenter at Goodwood. He was declared to run in the Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury last week but the ground was fast and I didn't want to risk him on it.
"I think he didn't see out a mile and a quarter on soft ground in the Prix Eugene Adam, although the winner is a very good horse. He would have probably been OK over that distance on faster ground but it was very heavy that day.
"A mile on good or good to soft ground will be ideal for him and, hopefully, Richard Hughes will be taking the ride.
"Although he has had a lot of races, he is still a progressive horse. He is only three and has improved with every run this season."
Trade Storm, Hors De Combat, Mooharib and Muteela are also in the reckoning.
