Paul Deegan is hoping for a profitable end to the season for Sruthan following his encouraging return to action at Leopardstown earlier this month.

The four-year-old ended his 2013 campaign with victory in the Group Three Concorde Stakes at Tipperary and picked up where he left off with a winning comeback in the Gladness Stakes at the Curragh in April.

He came back sore after running in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury in May and as a result was given an extended midsummer break, but Deegan was heartened by his comeback run in the Desmond Stakes, where he finished third behind the bang in-form Custom Cut.

Sruthan is now likely to take in the Boomerang Stakes on Spetember 13 before defending his Concorde crown on October 5.

Deegan said: "He ended up a bit too far back and as a result he had to make his challenge wide, but it was a very good run and we were delighted with him.

"Chris (Hayes) felt if things had panned out differently he could have finished a good second and the winner is obviously in great form at the moment.

"We were thrilled with our lad and he's come out of the race as well as he's ever come out of any race.

"We're looking forward to Irish Champions Weekend with him and then it will be on to the Concorde Stakes with him again.

"He's as good as he ever was and might even have improved a bit.

"I think we'll have a lot of fun with him next year."
