Sky Lantern pleased connections in a workout on Tuesday morning as she builds up to her defence of the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on October 4.

Connections of the four-year-old, who is trained by Richard Hannon, believe the filly is now on the way back to her best after failing to sparkle in her two starts this season following a fruitless trip to the Far East where she was last in the Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin.

"It has been a long road back, but Sky Lantern suffered a bad bout of travel sickness when she went to Hong Kong last December, and we have just had to be patient," the Marlborough trainer told www.richardhannonracing.co.uk.

"We knew that she would not be straight enough first time back at Royal Ascot and then the ground came up soft at Newmarket, so the cards have not really fallen her way this summer.

"However, she worked super last weekend and again this morning, so now we are setting our stall out to return in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket, with the QEII at Ascot and the Breeders' Cup also on the table if we continue to get positive vibes."

Hannon also revealed that Ivawood, ante-post favourite for the Qipco 2000 Guineas, would not be taking up his entry in the £100,000 Tattersalls Millions Median Auction Trophy at Newmarket on Saturday.

"The Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on October 17 remains Plan A, and if Ivawood did run anywhere before it would be in the £500,000 Tattersalls Million over seven furlongs two weeks earlier," he said.
