David Griffiths is considering trips to Australia and Dubai for Take Cover following his admirable effort in Paris last weekend.

The seven-year-old has confirmed himself one of the fastest horses in training this year, securing significant wins at York and Glorious Goodwood.

He was not beaten far in the Nunthorpe at York and proved himself again at the highest level when sixth in Sunday's Prix de l'Abbaye, leaving Griffiths dreaming of big days ahead for his stable star.

"It was a long old trip for him to Paris but he seems to have come back well and we were delighted with how he ran. He was only beaten a length and a half in Group One company, so it was a great effort," said the Doncaster-based trainer.

"He had plenty of traffic problems during the race. I'm not saying he was stopped, but he just had to snatch up a little bit and that can happen.

"He was maybe a little bit unlucky, but there were other horses in the race that were more unlucky than he was.

"He's in the race on Champions Day at Ascot (British Champions Sprint, October 18), but we'll see how he is and keep an eye on the weather.

"He doesn't owe anyone anything. He's won a Listed race and a Group Two this year and has taken that next step up the ladder.

"Dubai is an option for early next year and there is also the Lightning Stakes at Flemington in Australia in the middle of February.

"It's unbelievable that we are even able to think about sending a horse to places like that. It's what you dream about.

"The owners have been fantastic and hopefully we can continue the success into next year."
