A review of the action from Nottingham on Monday, where Queen's Pearl simply proved a class apart to score.
Queen's Pearl carried on her rapid progression through the ranks after proving a class apart from her rivals with a decisive victory in the Join Us On Tuesday 11th August Fillies' Handicap at Nottingham.
Despite playing up in the paddock before the six-furlong contest, there was no questioning the 5-6 favourite's attitude when on the track.
Travelling smoothly throughout, the Roger Varian-trained filly eased into the lead a furlong out before drawing clear for an eased down six-length success to follow up her win gained at Newmarket on her previous run.
William Buick, winning rider, said: "I was surprised at how quickly they fell away in front of me really. I ended up there a furlong and a half out on the bridle. She has won very well in the end.
"She is a nice filly and has plenty of quality and I would be surprised if they don't chase a bit of black type with her now. She felt good there and is definitely worth a crack at that company over that trip."
Title-chasing Silvestre De Sousa enjoyed a first- and last-race double to extend his advantage at the top of the jockeys' championship.
In Ken's Memory provided him with the opening leg of his brace when making a winning debut in the Racing UK Median Auction Maiden Stakes.
Although showing signs of inexperience early on in the six-furlong event, the Mark Johnston-trained 4/1 shot gradually got the hang of things to wear down favourite and early pace-setter Andar before taking victory by half a length.
Assistant trainer Charlie Johnston told Racing UK: "It was a really pleasing debut as she was quite green in stages.
"She is a filly that has been getting better with every gallop at home. It was not a complete surprise."
After finding himself out of luck on his two subsequent rides, De Sousa made his second visit to the winner's enclosure when steering home the Ali Stronge-trained Agent Gibbs (16/1) to glory in the RacingUK Now Available £10 Per Day Handicap.
Monasada made use of her superior stamina to get off the mark with a front-running success in the Watch Racing UK Today Just £10 Maiden Stakes.
Despite looking a sitting duck to the smooth travelling Liberality late on, Sir Michael Stoute's three-year-old pulled out plenty for pressure to gain a length and a half success and initiate a double for winning jockey Paul Hanagan.
The rider said: "She was just a bit green and I think her main plus is that she just keeps galloping. For me her best work was all in the last furlong.
"She has got a good attitude and she looks the part and hopefully she will come on a lot from that."
Hanagan struck again when successfully repeating his front-running tactics aboard As Good As Gold (11/4) for Richard Fahey in the RacingUk.com Daypass Handicap.
The three-year-old doubled her tally of wins for the season when digging deep from the sharp end to run out a comfortable two-and-a-half-length winner.
Hanagan said: "She hit the gates so well. I never like to drag them back when they do that. She is very sweet and honest and I think the cheekpieces just made her concentrate a bit more."
The Mick Channon-trained Harlequin Rock (11/2) opened his account in authoritative fashion when benefitting from a strong gallop in the Ladies Day On Friday 14th August Nursery.
Merritt Island (7/2) won for the first time since scoring on her return to action at Bath in May when grinding out victory in the Sherwoods Restaurant Packages From Just £40 Handicap to give trainer Sir Mark Prescott a winner with his sole runner.
Hanagan finished third on Mfiftythreedotcom, with the stewards ruling he had been guilty of careless riding and suspending him for one day (August 17).
