Thursday's news comes from the Midlands

MAJOR MALARKEY completed his preparation for the Peter Marsh Chase with a pleasing workout on the Fibresand that has convinced Nigel Twiston-Davies the fast-improving gelding is ready for a step up to Grade Two level. A stylish winner of two of his three starts this season, Major Malarkey gave short shrift to his lead horse and could hardly be in better form. L'ACCORDIONISTE is unbeaten this season and she looked in tip-top order breezing ahead of the Grade Two mares' race at Ascot. She is a pea out of the same pod in that she'll be taking a notable class hike, but she seems tremendously well in herself. FRONTIER DANCER has an entry at Ascot this weekend and he also looked the part in a strong canter up the strip, hot on the heels of his lead. MAHOGANY BLAZE sparkled in his work and will keep chipping away at the top two-mile races over fences, even though his recent form suggests he is not quite the force of old. FRASCATI PARK is on a hat-trick and this course winner could go for a limited handicap hurdle at Ascot. In customary style, he took a keen grip in his final blow out midweek, galloping out strongly to show that he right on song. Novice hurdler FRONTIER SPIRIT is another that seems in good order and he took the eye in a swinging canter with two stablemates.
