Philip Hobbs may work backwards from the Scottish Grand National with Sausalito Sunrise after revealing he is likely to swerve the Welsh equivalent.

Although the seven-year-old is a general 14/1 chance for the Grade Three contest at Chepstow next weekend, the Minehead trainer has said his chances of heading there are remote.

After pulling up on his seasonal debut at the Monmouthshire track in October, the Diana Whateley-owned gelding bounced back to form when capturing a Grade Three contest at Cheltenham the following month, before chasing home a rejuvenated O'Faolains Boy at Newbury.

Hobbs said: "Sausalito Sunrise is fine after his run at Newbury. I don't really have a concrete plan for him at this stage except maybe giving him an entry in the Scottish Grand National and working backwards from there.

"He is almost certain not to go to Chepstow and we will be represented instead by Woodford County, Return Spring and Bobble Boru.

"I don't think he really wants very soft ground. He might run in one of the handicaps at the Cheltenham Festival."
