Impressive Curragh maiden winner Alexios Komnenos is set to step up in class in the Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown later this month.

The Choisir colt was a 50-1 shot for his racecourse debut on Irish Derby weekend, but belied those huge odds with an authoritative victory for Tommy Stack and Wayne Lordan.

The performance came as no surprise to the trainer's son and assistant, Fozzy, who is looking forward to seeing him test the water at Group Three level on July 21.

Stack said: "He's nice horse and his work at home had been very solid.

"I got a bit of a shock when I saw what price he was, to be honest.

"He won well on the day and we've been happy with him since.

"All being well, he'll go for the Tyros Stakes in Leopardstown.

"Faster ground won't be a problem to him, so we'll see how we go."
