Top Gamble could return to Ireland

Kerry Lee might be tempted to run Top Gamble in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown on December 11 if there was enough give in the ground.

Top Gamble made a successful trip to Ireland when winning the Grade Two Normans Grove Chase at Fairyhouse in March and pleased his trainer on his reappearance at Cheltenham at the weekend.

The eight-year-old was fifth to Fox Norton in conditions Lee felt were not ideal for him.

"I was quite happy with that. The ground wasn't really soft enough but, that said, I think he will have come on for the run," the Presteigne trainer told At The Races.

"He has an entry in the John Durkan at Punchestown but we will have to see how he comes out of the race.

"Looking ahead to the spring, another run at a Festival would be great.

"He ran so well at Fairyhouse last year, so we are very keen to go back there again.

"We'd look at Punchestown if it came up soft, as well as Aintree and possibly Cheltenham, but the ground has to be soft."
