Evanna McCutcheon is anxiously waiting for rain to decide if she can run Maarek in next week's Darley July Cup at Newmarket.

The young Tipperary trainer decided to pull last year's Prix de l'Abbaye winner out of an engagement at the Curragh over the weekend as he must have some cut in the ground.

"We just need some help from mother nature, and the forecast's not looking too good," McCutcheon said.

"He's bouncing at home and raring to go, but I said I'd run him on good ground, but not when there's any firm in it."

Multi-talented McCutcheon was at least in action herself over the Irish Derby weekend, as she rode the winner of the Macari's Of Kildare Ladies Derby.

"It was nice. I've won quite a few point-to-points and I might be riding over jumps at Limerick on Sunday," she said.
