Long Run is highly unlikely to be seen on the racecourse before Christmas.
The nine-year-old endured a fraught journey back from France in May after running in the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris, and has been on the easy list during the summer at owner Robert Waley-Cohen's Upton Viva stud in Oxfordshire
The former Gold Cup and dual King George hero ran in the Grand National last term, where he fell at Valentine's on the first circuit, and the Crabbie's-sponsored Aintree showpiece will again be his big aim.
Waley-Cohen's son Sam, Long Run's regular partner, said: ``We are going to be taking it very quietly, and he's very unlikely to run before Christmas.
``I'd have thought the campaign will be around going back to Aintree and he'll probably have one run before the National.''
