Diamond Harry: Charlie Hall contender
Diamond Harry will try to put a bad season behind him when he lines-up for the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on Saturday.
Nothing went right for the 2010 Hennessy Gold Cup winner during the last campaign and it all began just before this Grade Two contest.
The Nick Williams-trained nine-year-old had been an intended runner but was a late withdrawal when he got cast in his box at the racecourse stables overnight.
Although he shaped encouragingly when fourth to Kauto Star in the Betfair Chase at Haydock three weeks later he could not build on that performance.
He completed the course on his next start when fifth behind Midnight Chase in the Argento Chase at Cheltenham in January but was pulled up in both the Gold Cup and Betfred Bowl, having had a wind operation and then suffering a leg infection.
"Hopefully he makes the day because we've had some disappointments, but Nick wouldn't be running him unless he thought he was right to go," said owner Paul Duffy.
"We hope he turns up and we'll see how he gets on.
"He had the wind operation which interrupted his preparation for the Gold Cup and we've had the farrier to look after his feet which have been an issue.
"It was a very unlucky season."
