Brampour: Heads the weights for the Coral Cup

The Paul Nicholls-trained Brampour is set to carry top-weight in the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday.

Last season's Champion Hurdle seventh is the highest rated runner left in the two mile five furlong handicap at the latest confirmation stage with stablemates Prospect Wells, ante-post favourite Wonderful Charm and Black Thunder not far below him in the handicap.

Willie Mullins has a typically strong hand with seven possibles in the top 30 runners in the handicap with Gordon Elliott another Irish handler who is well represented but Tony Martin could face an anxious wait to find out if market principal Edeymi makes the final cut.

The well-supported Pendra is immediately below Edeymi in the weights but there are no such worries for Alan King who has had this race in mind for some time for Meister Eckhart who made a promising debut for the yard at Fontwell last month.

Cotton Mill, who has an alternative entry in the Champion Hurdle, is still in contention but Gevrey Chambertin is a noticeable absentee.
