Sam Twiston-Davies is delighted to be back in action

Sam Twiston-Davies cannot wait to start making up for lost time when he returns after seven and a half weeks out through injury at Ffos Las on Wednesday.

Paul Nicholls' stable jockey will make a low-profile comeback on Southport, trained by his father Nigel, in the Finnings Handicap Hurdle over two and a half miles.

"I'm looking forward to it. The horse is in good form. He's run well in a couple of novice hurdles. It will be interesting to see how he goes on his handicap debut," he said.

"I'll just graft away and see how we get on."

Twiston-Davies, who has been sidelined with a damaged spleen after a fall at Chepstow on October 9, hopes to be firing on all cylinders by Saturday when Nicholls has a host of entries at Sandown, Aintree and Chepstow.

"I'm not sure where I'm going this weekend, no plans as yet. There's lots of options with the meetings that are on, so that's really nice," he said.

"It's been one of those things, it's part of a jockey's life. It's been a learning curve. I just want to move on and get back to where we were."
