Michael Winters: Hoping Rebel Fitz produces the goods

Galway Hurdle winner Rebel Fitz appears to have a fine chance to add to his tally in the JP McManus Hurdle at Cork on Sunday.

The seven-year-old followed up victories at Tipperary and Clonmel with a narrow verdict at Galway, sparking scenes of wild celebration in the winner's enclosure.

He is rated at least 10lb better than each of his five opponents this weekend.

Trainer Mick Winters said: "He's very fresh and well in himself at the moment, maybe a little bit too fresh if anything.

Million Dollars

"He's done very well since Galway and looks a million dollars at the moment.

"The ground should be perfect for him on Sunday and we're looking forward to it.

"We'll get Sunday out of the way and then see where we go, but there is a nice race in Tipperary later on that he could go for.

"He'll probably go there and then we'll decide whether we go chasing or stay over hurdles.

"He's in great order and normally produces the goods, so hopefully he does again on Sunday."

Rebel Fitz is reopposed by Galway Hurdle fifth Sailors Warn, as well as the eighth home, Fosters Cross.

Mossey Joe, Jack Cool and Ballyadam Brook complete the field.
