Richard Hughes: Speaks highly of Law Enforcement
Aidan O'Brien bids to improve on an already impressive UAE Derby record with Lines Of Battle.
Ballydoyle only returned to support the meeting very recently, with Master Of Hounds touched off in this three-year-olds only event in 2011, while Daddy Long Legs went a place better 12 months ago.
Lines Of Battle, another with an American pedigree, won on the Polytrack at Dundalk before finishing seventh to stablemate George Vancouver in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.
"He's trying a new trip and a new surface, said O'Brien.
"But he won well on Polytrack at Dundalk last year and we're happy with him for his first run of the year."
There is also a rare Meydan starter for Richard Hannon, who has plenty of Classic generation colts to choose from.
The representative is Law Enforcement, who wound up his juvenile campaign with a Group One victory at San Siro in Milan.
"He's drawn one, which is a huge help and I'll ride him very positive," said jockey Richard Hughes.
"He stays well and is going well. A mile won't be a problem. He won a Group One in Italy, I know they're not the strongest Group Ones in the world but this probably isn't the strongest Derby, which is why he's there.
"He looks great, he's moving well and he's fit."
David Marnane's Elleval gives another Irish involvement, while Godolphin trainers Saeed bin Suroor and Mahmood Al Zarooni have two runners each.
Bin Suroor's Secret Number looks the pick of the bunch and the trainer said: "Secret Number has run twice in his life, winning a maiden and a Listed race.
"He is improving all the time and doing really well. He is unbeaten and I am sure he has the class to run a big race.
"Shuruq won really, really well in the UAE Oaks. She is running over the same course and distance which she seems to stay well.
"She is ready to go again and I am hopeful of another good performance but it is a tougher race as she takes on the colts."
Al Zarooni fields Now Spun and Snowboarder.
