Tullius: In good form

Trainer Andrew Balding believe Tullius has "an obvious chance" in the Listed Winners Are Welcome At Betdaq EBF Stallions Hyde Stakes at Kempton on Wednesday evening.

The five-year-old was a decent performer for Peter Winkworth in his early days but really came of age last year, winning four times, including in the Group Three Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury.

Injury kept him off the track this year until October, when he looked rusty in the Darley Stakes at Newmarket.

He was then only beaten half a length into third by Penitent in a Listed event at Newmarket earlier this month.

Balding said: "I am very pleased with Tullius and it was a good run at Newmarket last time. The race conditions suit him on Wednesday and he has an obvious chance.

"He had form on the Polytrack for Peter Winkworth so the surface should not be a problem and he seems in good heart.

"The feeling was that he just needed the run in the Darley Stakes. He had been off the track for a long time and he proved he came on a lot for that with his run at Newmarket next time.

"Although Finals Day is a long way off, it is a possibility but he has been nominated for the Dubai Carnival, so we have lots of options for him."

The improving Graphic represents William Haggas and will be ridden by Jamie Spencer, while Sirius Prospect runs for Dean Ivory.

Mark Johnston's Galician and the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Enrol also line up.
