Fledgling trainer Charlie Fellowes hopes Buckland can propel his name into "the shop window" by winning the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Stayers at Ascot on Saturday.

A prolific winner for Hans Adielsson last season, Fellowes has yet to find the key to the six-year-old.

However, the Newmarket handler is hoping a return to Ascot, where he was fourth behind Estimate in the Sagaro Stakes last May, and the booking of German-based Dutchman Adrie de Vries, one of three jockeys representing Europe, will spark him back to life.

"He's been given a chance by the handicapper, but he's been very frustrating this year," said Fellowes.

"He had excuses for his first two runs. He tied up at Newmarket and was unsuited by the ground at Haydock.

"He then ran well at Kempton but ran no race at all at Newmarket last time out.

"I just wonder, as he's getting older, if they were just going a stride too fast for him last time and he may be suited by a flatter, turning track.

"That big, long straight at Newmarket might not be for him.

"We're going back up to two miles and back to Ascot, where he was fourth in the Sagaro behind Estimate last season, so, on that form, he's incredibly well handicapped.

"I've been very happy at home with him but I can't put my finger on why he's been running poorly.

"I'm very happy with our jockey. Adrie de Vries is top class. Adrie has won at Royal Ascot (Energizer in the 2012 Tercentenary Stakes) so he knows the place.

"This will be my biggest runner to date. We've been lucky, the numbers are good but we've no stars among our older horses.

"This is a great opportunity to get our name in the shop window."
