Quest For Peace received a well-judged ride from Kieren Fallon to land another Coutts Glorious Stakes for Luca Cumani at Glorious Goodwood.

The multiple champion jockey was allowed to dictate things at only a modest gallop for much of the mile and a half journey and gradually wound the pace up once straightened up to face the judge.

The challengers were queuing up in behind with three furlongs to run but the 5-1 chance kept pulling out more and stayed on all the way to the line to take the Group Three prize by a length and a quarter from Dandino.

Gatewood was favourite following three successive victories but he had to settle for third on this occasion.

Caulfield Cup

Fallon said: "Nothing wanted to go on - this lad doesn't mind bowling along and all we wanted was a decent gallop.

"He's been tried pretty highly and run some decent races in defeat so it will be a confidence booster for him today, I hope.

"It's quite windy out there and it's difficult to know how quick we were going, but we were allowed to dictate and he's a hard horse to get past once he's in front."

Cumani has now won the race seven times. Sara Cumani, the trainer's wife, said: "It's extraordinary, I think think the race just fits well into the calendar for our horses.

"It's nice to see him win and he's definitely on target for Melbourne. It looks like we might have three for the Cup as Mount Athos is going to go there and Ibicenco, too.

"It's up to Luca but I could see him having a prep race in the Caulfield Cup."
