Richard Lee: Will enter Incentivise for the Welsh National
Incentivise landed the spoils in a gruelling race for the freebets.co.uk Southern National Handicap Chase at Fontwell.
The Richard Lee-trained nine-year-old overtook the pacesetting Mortimers Cross between the last two fences and was all out for 5lb claimer Micheal Nolan to hang on at the end of the three-and-a-half-mile slog.
Mortimers Cross rallied on the run-in to get to within a length at the line, with Kaybeew another four lengths away in third.
Lee said: "I was delighted with him and for him. He had to dig deep.
"Micheal gave him a great ride and I think this boy will be champion jockey one day. He can seriously ride.
"The horse will be entered on Tuesday for the Welsh National. The owners don't live too far away from Chepstow so they would love to go there.
"Where he actually runs between now and then would rather depend on the handicapper."
Nolan, was however, suspended two days (December 2-3) for using his whip above the permitted level.
