Our Father: Entered RSA Chase picture with victory in the Rewards4Racing Novices' Chase
Our Father fulfilled his considerable potential when making a stylish winning debut over fences to take the Rewards4Racing Novices' Chase.
The big grey had flopped at both Cheltenham and Aintree when well fancied at the end of the last campaign, but came back with a bang as he hammered Sire Collonges by 20 lengths.
Kept wide throughout by Timmy Murphy, he came around the outside to deliver a challenge to Sire Collonges on the run to the second-last fence and the pair galloped clear, with the remainder of the field well in arrears.
"It's going to be a big season for him this year," trainer David Pipe told Racing UK. "Timmy has given him a great ride and nursed him into this race. He's a big horse and sometimes it takes some time to get to his brain and arrange him at his fences. He asked him for big ones at the last two fences, but he's come up and answered.
"He's a horse who always possessed a lot of potential but we'll enjoy this before we think about where we might go next."
Sky Bet quote him at 10/1 to win the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival next March.
