John Quinn: Trains Kashmir Peak

John Quinn looks to have another smart juvenile on his hands after Kashmir Peak won the BetVictor.com Summit Juvenile Hurdle.

The North Yorkshire based handler enjoyed plenty of success with Countrywide Flame last season and could be saddling another Triumph Hurdle contender come March after his son of Tiger Hill lifted the Grade Two prize at Doncaster.

Vasco Du Ronceray, second to impressive Cheltenham winner Far West last time, was expected to take all the beating and was sent off the 4/6 market leader.

Everything looked rosy for favourite backers as Nicky Henderson's runner eased to the head of affairs but he jumped the last with Sametegal and Kashmir Peak on either side of him.

The favourite weakened out of things after that flight leaving the other pair to battle out the finish and it was Dougie Costello's mount who, with the rail to help and in receipt of 3lbs, prevailed by a length at 7/1.

Quinn said: "We won this race last year with a very likeable horse (Royal Bonsai). This lad is better but this race on paper looked very strong. He's a likeable horse with a great attitude.

"He'll be aimed at the Triumph. We'll give him one more run or maybe two and go there. It's three months away.

"Ger (Lyons) trained him on the Flat (in Ireland) and said there was plenty there. He really liked him."
