Court In Motion: A first success over fences
Court In Motion provided Leighton Aspell with a welcome victory in Lingfield's RSA Novices' Trial Chase.
Aspell has had a tricky week with his appeal against a ban imposed over the running and riding of Furrows dismissed on Thursday but the veteran jockey ended the week on a better note in the Grade Two contest registered as The December Novices' Steeple Chase.
Jumping off in front aboard Emma Lavelle's charge, the pair were tracked throughout the three mile contest by main market rival Houblon Des Obeaux.
The latter's fencing wasn't as fluent as the leader - whom he had beaten at Wincanton in November - and Liam Treadwell was getting lower in the saddle on the turn for home.
Aspell had taken a couple of lengths out of his rival by the time they turned into the straight and the well-regarded seven year old made the most of the 7lbs that he received to score by just over a length.
Lavelle went on to complete a notable across-the-card four-timer with Highland Lodge's victory at Cheltenham earlier in the day supplemented by wins for Court By Surprise and Easter Meteor at Doncaster.
