Jadanli: Found enough to break losing run

Jadanli just held the late thrust of Tarquinius to take the Goffs Theystes Chase at Gowran Park.

Pulled up in the Welsh National at Chepstow on his most recent start, the 25/1 chance took up the running heading to the second-last fence and was clear over the last.

However, runner-up Tarquinius (25/1) threw down a determined challenge in the final 100 yards and only narrowly failed to scrape past the winner.

The inexperienced Panther Claw (8/1) emerged with considerable credit in third, while Sole Witness (16/1) filled out the places in fourth.

Well-backed favourite The Westerner Boy was an early casualty in the contest, sending Tony McCoy crashing to the ground, while Ruby Walsh's fears over Bishopfurze's jumping also proved justified as his mount was also out of the race from an early stage after a howling error unseated the jockey.

"We put cheekpieces on him today because he is getting a bit more idle, but having said that he's been a grand old warrior for us," said winning trainer Paul Gilligan.

"He's had his problems and we'll see how he is in the morning before we make any plans."
