Connections of Steps To Freedom anticipate further progress in the coming months following his winning return at Dundalk on Friday night.

Jessica Harrington's dual-purpose performer trounced a good field in the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Race by upwards of four and a quarter lengths.

It was his first outing since he finished last in the Irish St Leger at the Curragh in September.

Jockey Shane Foley said: "He's a class horse and he did that well. He had a nice blow and there's plenty of improvement in him. He'd been working well at home."

Steps To Freedom still holds an entry in the Stan James Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, for which he is as low as 40/1 in the ante-post markets.
