Somemothersdohavem was a surprise winner at Doncaster
Somemothersdohavem produced a likeable display to win the 32Red Juvenile Hurdle at Doncaster.
John Ryan's horse had chased home the potentially smart Bordoni on his hurdling debut at Market Rasen and improved upon that under a fine waiting ride from Jack Doyle.
Aazif had set out to make all under Jason Maguire and did so at a furious tempo, and he looked to have odds-on favourite Swnymor (1/2f) beaten two from home.
However, Donald McCain's horse jumped the last a tired horse as the winner moved smoothly into contention before galloping clear for a ready success.
Long-time leader Aazif was passed by King Of Dudes (12/1) and rallying favourite Swnymor late on, the former just getting the better of a close run thing for second.
Ryan said: "He refused to go in the stalls and he is a bit temperamental. The good thing about hurdling is that there is no containment down at the start - you can keep horses moving.
"He's got issues but as long as you can deal with them and work with him he's got ability. Whether we are punching above our weight or not I don't know, but the idea is to go to Cheltenham (for the Triumph).
"The test there will suit him, but whether he has ability to take them on I don't know. He has beaten decent horses today."Swnymor is also an intended runner in the Triumph, despite his defeat. Trainer Tim Vaughan believes his first run since falling in the Finale Hurdle at Chepstow will have done him good.
"I didn't want to take him there on the back of a fall. He had a good blow and was a bit hesitant at his hurdles," said Vaughan.
"The run will bring him on. We would have loved him to win here on the bridle, but he had missed a lot of work so hopefully he will be sharper for this."
