Henry de Bromhead: Trainer of Days Hotel
Days Hotel (5/4f) delivered a proficient round of fencing to take the Grade 2 paddypower.com Chase at Naas.
Andrew Lynch set out to make all on the Henry de Bromhead-trained eight-year-old, and having seen off the attentions of Call The Police, he faced the prospect of Realt Dubh breathing down his neck as they approached the last.
Noel Meade's charge looked to possibly be travelling the better under Paul Carberry, but not for the first time, his jumping let him down when it most mattered, and a momentum stopping blunder saw all chance compromised.
The winning trainer said of his six-length winner: "His jumping won it for him and he had to do it the hard way. He set a good gallop and jumped well all the way.
"I'm delighted for the owner (James Treacy) as he's been great since he came back from injury. That's two Grade Twos he's won now and he keeps improving.
"The Normans Grove at Fairyhouse (April 2) is probably the obvious one now, especially if he gets some ease in the ground.
"The Kinloch Brae at Thurles was too far on heavy ground but I wouldn't mind stepping him up in trip again on better ground."
