Clive Brittain completed a big-race double as Al Muheer sprang a 40-1 shock in the Abu Dhabi International Stakes.

The veteran Newmarket trainer, who had earlier won the juvenile Listed contest with Nideeb, was dancing for joy in the winner's enclosure after Seb Sanders made stealthy progress before powering home by half a length.

Taqdeyr and Roaring Forte were among those prominent early on but Sanders bided his time, allowing Hayley Turner to hit the front aboard Secret Society before pouncing with a winning effort.

Despite Al Muheer drifting across the track, he was a clear winner, with Michael Bell claiming second and third with Secret Society and Redford.

Sanders said: "That was great fun. You don't get many rides like that in a big handicap.

"I knew the horse would get me there - he gave me a great ride."

Brittain: "It's been a very satisfactory afternoon and Saeed (Manana, owner) is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

"In this game there are many days when you cry. I never cry when I lose, but I enjoy it when I win."

Bell was understandably thrilled with Secret Society and Redford.

He said: "Secret Society's been a star all season and the 3lb penalty from his race here a few weeks ago has cost him the race.

"He's had three quick runs now so we'll give him a bit of a holiday.

"Redford has ran a blinder. He's effective at seven furlongs but I'm thinking of dropping him back to six for the Ayr Gold Cup."
