Hughes - rode the closing winner.
Richard Hannon's Shamwari Lodge (3-1) made amends for a reversal at Glorious Goodwood in the Win A Trip To Saratoga Races EBF Fillies' Handicap.
Shamwari Lodge found plenty of trouble in his previous outing on the Sussex Downs, but Richard Hughes made sure he had space and arrived on the scene in good time here.
Paquerettza was a determined leader, but was worn down inside the final furlong and beaten a length and three-quarters.
Hannon's son and assistant, Richard, added: "She is a lovely filly and may end up in Group races later this year.
"I was a bit worried about her getting the trip, but she has done it well.
"She has been a bit unlucky really and it is nice to see her winning again."
Paquerettza's trainer David Brown said: "With hindsight I should not have run her the other day - I should have brought her straight here, but it looked a fairly easy race.
"Ideally she likes a really strong gallop, which she didn't get the other day, and I think she is good enough to go for Listed races."
