Dick Turpin - easy winner.
Dick Turpin oozed class to give Richard Hannon another victory in a sales race by landing the Tattersalls Ireland Sales Stakes at Fairyhouse.
Three from three before his first overseas trip, he had looked impressive when winning the Group Two Richmond Stakes at Goodwood on his last start, beating subsequent Solario Stakes runner-up Buzzword.
Richard Hughes had the 8-15 favourite settled nicely behind the leaders and always looked to be going better than anything, despite carrying more weight than all his rivals.
Andrew Oliver's In Some Respect pulled nicely clear of the others but he had no answer to Dick Turpin, who was heavily restrained when crossing the line a length and a half to the good.
William Hill cut him to 16-1 from 25s for next year's 2000 Guineas for which stable companion Canford Cliffs is already favourite. Paddy Power also go 16s while Totesport are 20s.
Sky Bet were less impressed trimming his classic odds into a top priced 25/1 from 33s for the 2000 GuineasHannon's son and assistant, Richard junior, said: "I think that's our sixth winner of this race but none were better than him - he'd be the best by a long way.
"He's won a Group Two so the next step would have to be a Group One, whether that is this year or next.
"We'll look at the Racing Post Trophy and Dewhurst, I would personally love to see him run in the Dewhurst.
"He has a lot of scope and could be a Guineas horse next year.
"Hughesie said he loved the ground and he is adaptable on all sorts."
John Oxx's Alandi strolled home in the Ballycullen Stakes. The four-year-old lowered the colours of the mighty Yeats earlier in the season but was well beaten behind Profound Beauty on his last start.
However, with nothing of that class in this Listed race, Mick Kinane allowed the 9-10 favourite to coast home in his home time as he beat his pacesetter, Aliyfa, by five lengths with Loch Long third.
Oxx said: "He's a different horse when the ground is soft, although he was a bit flat last time at Leopardstown.
"The plan was to go for the Doncaster Cup as we were looking forward to stretching him out over a longer distance. But if it looks like being heavy he could run in the Irish St Leger. Although if it was good he could miss both."
