| Pos | Horse | Odds |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | Treadwell (IRE) | 14/1 |
| 2nd | Himalya (IRE) | 7/1 |
| 3rd | Imperial Guest | 50/1 |
| 4th | Hajoum (IRE) | 50/1 |
Treadwell wins the last.
Treadwell (14-1) came with a late run to take the honours in the Buckingham Palace Handicap at Royal Ascot.
Brought with a perfectly-timed challenge on the far side by Fergus Sweeney from his high draw, the only three-year-old in the race got home by a half a length to strike for trainer Jamie Osborne.
The top weight Himalaya, drawn on the opposite side of the track on the stands rail, was second with Imperial Guest, back on the far side, a neck away third and Hajoum fourth.
Osborne said: "One race doesn't change a lot but it helps. We've had a quite enough couple of years.
"We had two winners here in 2007 and I've been at the bottom of the Conference League since.
"It's great to get a nice horse to come here with a chance. The world has had problems, I've had problems with the world. We're trying to build it back up and things like this don't do any harm.
"I lost one of my main backers and we've had to downscale in quite a major way, but it's onwards and upwards. Other people have survived worse things than this and we will survive and we will claw back."
Sweeney, celebrating his first ever Royal Ascot winner, added: "I came from far back, but I know this horse well now and he has a lot of gears.
"I knew from when I was off the bridle and having to squeeze him along at halfway that they must have gone a bit too quick up front.
"From two out they were coming back a bit quick and it was just a case of finding the holes. If you've got a gear there the gaps appear.
"This is my first Royal Ascot winner. I'm in my 30s now and I didn't think it was going to happen."
