Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore made it a double following their Rockfel win with Cape Dollar as Crystal Capella defied a 364-day absence in the Pride Stakes at Newmarket.

The five-year-old won the Group Two heat back in 2008 and was last seen when finishing second in this race last year.

However, her lengthy lay-off certainly did not seem to hinder her as the 4-1 co-favourite travelled well throughout before Moore produced her two furlongs from home.

Barshiba had made a bold bid from the front but she was left toiling as Crystal Capella shot by and quickly put daylight between her and the field.

Stoute's charge had four and a half lengths in hand at the line with Myplacelater coming through to bag second and She's Our Mark staying on strongly for third.

Stoute said: "She's a good filly. It is just such a pity she has thrown slow-to-recover splints through her career.

"She did it after she beat Dar Re Mi at York last season and popped another big splint when she was ready to start off at Sandown in May.

"It has messed up her programme but she shown today how good she is. She is entered in the Hong Kong Vase and may get a pick at that now."
